SAVE SMALL FOREST – LUNGS OF LEDNA STENA

On the occasion of World Day of the forest, under patronage of the City Municipality of Palilula, Association of citizens PULS and consortium of organization of civil society with media EKOPOLIS network, students of the schools, utility enterprises, citizens` council and Office for Youth of Palilula, organizing action of cleaning and planting new trees in green space, located between two schools – elementary school “Bubanjski heroji” and special school “Bubanj”. Work activity on this location will be held in Sunday, 20th of March from 10am to 14pm supported by PUE “Medijana”, PUE “Gorica” and Administration of Agriculture and Rural Development. This small “green oasis” currently is an area for waste disposal and at the initiative of citizens could be a recreational park, because at its edge belongs to the forest complex of Memorial park “Bubanj”. That’s why it was created slogan “SAVE SMALL FOREST – LUNGS OF LEDENA STENA” and great desire of residents of this settlement that instead of the landfill near their homes have landscaped area.
On this occasion and management of Palilula Municipality will visit this small park on Ledena Stena and participate in action of NGOs. Association “PLUS – Lungs of Ledena Stena” was established 22nd April 2010 based in Palilula Municipality and work actively on improvement of protection of environment and health of population. According to president of Municipality, Prof. Dr Igor Novakovic, City Municipality of Palilula is since 2009th participant of the project of national campign “Green Cities of Serbia”, initiated by the People`s Office of the President of the Republic and in cooperation with EKOpolis network also partner in international ecological campaigns “Billion trees for the planet Earth” – “Green tracks of Europe” – “Stop climate change”, “Clean up the Serbia – Clean up the world”.
In settlements of City Municipality of Palilula successfully is realizing Program of activities on regulation of inter – block greenery and solving demands of citizens. It is very important that with such actions and projects, but and continuous education of children and youth, develops and improves ecological consciousness and properly evaluated possibilities which nature offer to us – highlights Milan Djurdjevic, president of Assembly. Goal of this activities, in the opinion of our interlocutors is increase of green and park surfaces in City Municipality of Palilula – in the City of Nis.
